Success for Ulidia Energy App!

Success for Ulidia Energy App!

Four Geography Year 12 students have been named as winners of the AES Eco Challenge, for their energy app.

The team of four students joined the challenge during November 2014 with their idea of creating a free to download app which had the aim of supporting KS3 Science and Geography students. The team gained £5000 from AES in January 2015 to put their plan into action.

Ulidia Integrated College has a close working relationship with ISL recycling which was made stronger through the AES Eco-Challenge project. ISL recycling provided support and guidance to the team as they went about developing their app. ISL also welcomed the team to their plant in Mallusk where the team learnt about the recycling process.

The Principal of Ulidia Integrated College, Mr Eugene Martin said that “the team of students have done a fantastic job of creating an app; we at Ulidia are very proud of their success”.

The Head of Geography at Ulidia Integrated College, Mrs Sandra Patterson said that “we are very proud of these students who have worked very hard and demonstrated maturity and vision at all stages of their project”.

Mr McCrystal from ISL said, “The owners and management of ISL would like to extend to Ulidia Integrated College our sincerest congratulations on this fantastic achievement. We know how much hard work has been invested in this project by everyone at the College by the continual support of staff and pupils alike. We are very proud of our association with Ulidia through Miss Patterson and the Eco team and we take this opportunity to assure you of our continued support. Congratulations and well done again”.
