Annual Geography Spellathon

Annual Geography Spellathon

During the winter term the Geography department held its annual KS3 Spellathon. Students in Years 8, 9 and 10 took part in the spellathon by learning key words and completing a spelling test on them. Students then raised money by being sponsored for each word that they got correct.

On Tuesday 8th March the Geography department presented a cheque for £500 to the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. The cheque was collected by Lynda Marshall MBE. During the presentation assembly, Year 8 students learnt about where the money will go and what a difference it will make to life-limited children in our community.

Two students; Stewart 9OWN and Reece 8CH were presented with a gift to thank them for their outstanding efforts during the spellathon. Mrs Marshall thanked the students for their efforts and congratulated them on a wonderful achievement which will help others in the community.

The Geography department has raised a total of £5,319 through the annual spellathon event since it began in 2009.

Well done to all students in KS3 on your fabulous effort, and thank you to your families and friends for their support.
