At the moment, on average 20% of children’s total calorie intake comes from treat foods such as crisps, biscuits, chocolate and sweets. These are foods that are high in sugar, fat or salt, but low in nutrients.

 

However, the recommendation is that children should only eat small amounts, and not every day.
