Parents Forum for parents and carers of children with Autism, Dyslexia or Dyspraxia

Parents Forum for parents and carers of children with Autism, Dyslexia or Dyspraxia

The Empower project invites you to its first Parents Forum meeting on Monday 6th June at the Elk, Toome at 7.30pm.  The Empower project is a 5 year lottery funded initiative to support young people under 12, with Autism, Dyslexia or Dyspraxia, their parents and the wider family circle.

The project team wishes to meet with parents to establish local needs and to try and ascertain if the project can assist in addressing.  The project has specific outcomes to meet in supporting families in learning, reducing isolation, increasing integration and raising confidence levels.

What is a Parent’s Forum? A Parent’s Forum is a group of parents who meet to share their opinions and ideas about issues that affect them and their families.

Who is the Forum for? The forum is for parents and carers of children with Autism, Dyslexia or Dyspraxia. No experience is necessary to be involved, just enthusiasm and a commitment of a quarterly meeting.

What can I expect? A friendly welcome!

Updates from the Empower Centre staff on what has been happening and discussions on future initiatives. Staff bring their ideas for groups to the forum to see what parents think.

We would like your feedback on what you would like to see the project provide.

Why have a Parent’s Forum? The idea is that the parent’s forum will help the Empower project to develop activities that match the actual needs of the community. The Empower project is keen to involve parents in the delivery of the project. Parents are at the core of the Empower projects service and all parent’s views are welcomed and respected.

Tea, Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.  To facilitate catering could you email or call if you will be able to attend:  empower@nrc.ac.uk / 02879395237
