On the week of the Irish Open we at Ulidia held our annual golf competition on Monday 16th May at Carrickfergus Golf Club.

On what turned out to be a beautiful day we had three senior players and four juniors playing and representing Team Dunlop and Team Spratt respectively in our Ryder Cup themed event. The match had its usual friendly rivalry but was played as always in an atmosphere of fair play and fun.  After every player’s points were counted up and added together the eventual winners were Team Spratt.

In the individual event Ryan McNally (Year 10) emerged as the eventual winner, Ryan McNamara (Year 14) was second, Third place was Mark Hill (Year 14) and fourth place was Jake Gillespie (year 10).  In addition Ryan McNally won nearest to the pin on the 12th hole. Ryan McNamara got the longest drive on the 17th hole.

As always it was a pleasure for Mr. Dunlop and I to be involved in the event.  All pupils have shown a marked improvement in their golf games from last year, demonstrated in their falling handicaps and an improvement in their ball striking.  As always I would encourage them to continue to practice and play in order to improve.

May I take this opportunity to wish three of our original members, Mark Hill, Ryan McNamara and Daniel Leeming all the best with their exam results and in the future as they are leaving us this year.

Yours in Sport,

Mr Spratt
