Ulidia Wins BEST VIDEO Category at Europa Gala!

Ulidia Wins BEST VIDEO Category at Europa Gala!

The Year 14 Moving Image Arts team created a short film for Caterpillar, in Action Cancer on 18th September. We were invited to The Europa Hotel on 2nd October for a Gala Dinner, boardroom showdown (Apprentice style) and award ceremony.

After a drink’s reception, representatives from each of the local businesses were requested to speak about how their work on the 18th and up to that date resulted in % increase sales in Action Cancer on the day. The idea behind the work was to involve local businesses in the community and raise funds at the same time. This was followed by a fabulous 4 course dinner.

Awards were given for the best photo, video, highest % increase in sales, High 5 (best purchase for £5 on the day) and a Phone Challenge.

Caterpillar won the Best Video Award. Ulidia Integrated College created their winning video, beating rival businesses, which were often large chain stores (Boots, Firmus, Marks and Spencer, Fonacab, UTV, to name but a few). We proudly received our award, met UTV’s Marc Mallett and The Apprentice’s Jim Eastwood and got photographs taken.

An amazing, almost £100,000 was raised by local businesses for Action Cancer.

A great night was had by all, and we appreciate the part we played in this event – thanks to Caterpillar and Action Cancer!

Congratulations to Rory Gamble, Niall Marcus, Olivia Read, Michelle Tsang and Andrew Wilson, who created the winning video – WELL DONE!

A very proud, Jill Mercer.
