On Friday 31st March, the year 8 hockey team attended the N. Ireland Integrated Hockey Cup tournament at Parkhall School in Antrim. This is the first time the Year 8 pupils have been involved in such a tournament so the anticipation and excitement had reached fever pitch by the time we arrived at our destination.
Ulidia were playing in the second pool and after playing 2 teams we went through as the winners from this section. The next round was the semi-final so the girls really upped their game. Some excellent play in midfield saw the ball move from one end of the pitch to the other however Shimna proved too strong a team and went on to win 1-0, as well as take the title in their final match. Well done to all of the girls for playing with such enthusiasm and determination, with special mention going to Erin (8STL), the player of the match.
Many thanks to Sarah at Parkhall for organising the tournament; it was a super example of how Integration works in sport, with so many pupils getting involved and a great way to celebrate the end of Integration month.
