Year 9 Students raise money for Cancer Focus NI

Year 9 students from 9OWN held a bun sale to raise money for Cancer Focus NI. Cancer Focus NI is a charity that provides care and support services for cancer patients and their families; offer a range of cancer prevention programmes to help people lessen their risk of getting cancer; fund scientific research into the causes and treatment of the disease and campaign for better health policy to protect our community and its future.

The pupils were inspired to do this in memory of their teacher, Michael Anderson form Ballycarry Primary School. In just 20 minutes the group raised £120! 9OWN and Miss Bowden wish to thank everyone who came to buy a bun and for their generous donations. Miss Bowden, the organising teacher said, “I would like to acknowledge the huge effort that all the students put into the bun sale and thank everyone who came along and supported us on the day; we were delighted to raise money for Cancer Focus NI and all in memory of Mr. Anderson, who our students held in very high regard from their primary school days”.
