Year 9-14 Pupils Go To See The Musical, ‘Wicked’

On Wednesday 4th December , Miss McErlean and Mr Novell took a group of year 9-14 pupils to see the musical, ‘Wicked’ in Dublin.

Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students at Shiz University: the blonde and very popular Glinda and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba.

Image 1 Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very
different paths. Glinda’s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by
power while Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself, and to those around
her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences for her future. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

We all thought it was AMAZING! We began the day by getting the bus from school. It was a gorgeous day and the journey went smoothly. We stopped off at the AppleGreen centre to have lunch, where we met other schools who were on route to see the show.

Image 3 When we arrived at the theatre the place was packed! It is a beautiful new theatre and we were all excited to be there. Everyone was ‘buzzing’ and couldn’t wait to take their seats. When we eventually got in I was gobsmacked by the stage. There was a massive dragon suspended from the ceiling and the curtain was a huge map of oz.

The show did not disappoint. We were enthralled the whole way through, from the stunning costumes and scenery to the flawless performances.

It really was a great day and everyone enjoyed themselves. If you get a chance to go and see you won’t be disappointed!
