8WR – Our Fun Day At The Farm

When we visited Kilcreggan Farm we were able to hold guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens. The man who showed us around the farm was named Phil; he was really funny and we learnt some interesting facts about the farm and the animals in it.

We were allowed in to play with the goats and the pigs. The pigs were mangalitsa, which means they could eat almost anything! The pig started to eat the laces of Phil’s shoes and it started to chase everyone out of its home!

On the 20th June we went to Kilcreggan Farm and it was brilliant! We got to learn about different animals; what they eat and how they live. We learnt what was good and bad for the animals, for example, pigs can’t eat oranges or they will be very sick.

The funniest part was when the goat tried to head butt Phil and I. We also got to feed and hold the animals. The chicken bit everyone but altogether I had a great time at the farm.

We arrived at Kilcreggan Urban Farm on the 20th June. I was so happy and could not wait to go and learn more about the animals and what they eat. We walked around the farm and Phil told us about what their names were and what they like.

Nicole had a fear of chickens but she wanted to conquer her fears so she held one. She was very brave when she did it.

We learnt that male chickens, when they fall in love with a female chicken, it sometimes pulls out their feathers.

The pigs like to roll in mud because it helps keep them cool.

Chickens, when you feed them they only tap your hand, I thought it would hurt.

The bunnies eat vegetables. They kept trying to bounce out of my arms when I was holding them because they are not used to us.
