Young environmental leader awards

Young environmental leader awards

This year the Eco team have been working with Shanna Rice from the Ulster wildlife trust to become young environmental leaders.

This programme involved four key areas of focus; know, feel, act, and overcome barriers. Learners worked to lead environmental action within their community by litter picking, devising a campaign to protect hedgerows, creating a display in school, writing reports in litter within the community, bird watching and reporting, and many more activities.

Students were awarded certificates by the Ulster Wildlife Trust and AES for their work, three pupils achieved the coveted ‘champion’ level of certificate, and 14 pupils achieved the ‘leader’ level of certificate.

Some pupils were also awarded prizes for excellent contributions during the programme including the McMullan brothers for their bird watching and feeder work, and Aeryn (Year 9) for her written contributions to our school website.

Well done to all involved for all your hard work!
