13 Feb Rugby teams showing great potential
Despite the deterioration in the weather after Christmas, the year 8, 9 and 10 boys having been taking part in rugby during PE lessons and in training after school. They have also commenced their matches in the East Antrim Schools Rugby Football Association (EASRFA) and have been showing great potential.
On Friday the 8th February Ulidia was pleased to host its first year 8 tournament day at the school thanks to the good drainage on our pitch. The College hosted teams from Downshire, CarrickCollege and Parkhall which meant around 100 year 8 pupils were present at the event. Ulidia pupils enjoyed success against Downshire and the Parkhall teams but most importantly all the pupils enjoyed the opportunity to mix with the pupils from other schools, in a fun and safe environment and improve their rugby skills.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage any pupils that are interested in getting involved in such events or representing the school to attend after school training with myself or Mr. Dunlop. Could I also thank Michael Dixon (The Carrick Rugby Development Officer) for his ongoing support and commitment to developing rugby in the school.
Mr. Spratt
