18 Jun Anna Buick – Achievement
On 9th June 2013, Ulidia Integrated College pupil, Anna Buick aged 13, successfully climbed Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. Three years earlier, after having reached the top of Slieve Donard and having enjoyed the experience so much, Anna decided to climb some more.
Ben Nevis was next on her list. Her father, Mr Ivan Buick, went with her to the top, “It was really quite cold up there,” recalls Anna thinking of her frost covered mittens and numb fingers, “but it was so much fun, I couldn’t wait to climb Snowdon.”
The following year Anna and her dad headed up Snowdon where it wasn’t quite so chilly. “I was amazed at how many people were up at the top of Snowdon, it was a bit like Piccadilly Circus”, said Anna.
Finally, in June, Anna realised her dream of completing the last of the four highest peaks in the UK.
