07 Oct Year 8 Shoe Box Appeal
The Year 8 annual Shoe Box Appeal is underway! As part of the College’s mentor programme, every October for the last seven years, Year 8 pupils have been packaging shoe boxes with much needed items. This year we will donate to a locally based charity, “Road of Hope”. The shoe boxes are sent to eastern European countries in time for Christmas.
The appeal gives Year 8 pupils the opportunity to work as a team in their mentor groups under the guidance of their mentor. They will be able to see the result of their teamwork and organisation as filled shoe boxes are produced and know that they are making a difference to someone overseas at Christmas time.
Mentors will work with pupils during ‘mentor time’ to organise which items to bring into school. As the shoe boxes need to be at their overseas destination in time for Christmas, the boxes must be ready for collection by Monday 11 November 2013.
I would be grateful if you could remind your child that all items must therefore be in school before Monday 11 November 2013.
