Mrs Patterson, as leader of Duke of Edinburgh award scheme in Ulidia, would personally like to congratulate the first pupils to achieve their Gold Award through the school. She joined them on their trip to the Award Ceremony and has watched their trials, tribulations and successes throughout their journey to achieve this prestigious award. As part of the award pupils took part in 4 day expeditions, toured with the Tall Ships, visited America to promote integrated education, learnt new skills ranging from cookery and horse riding to kayaking and judo. They also volunteered in local community groups developing new skills and talents.
“The ‘Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme’ is not only about learning new skills and experiencing new situations; but it is the development of new relationships and making ‘real’ friends that really counts – that has been the best bit.”
(Jake Cochrane – Sixth Form)
