02 Oct Ulidia Shows Its Support For Action Cancer
Action Cancer approached Ulidia at the start of September with a fabulous opportunity to create a short film to support their “Cares Shop Challenge” in aid of Action Cancer.
In partnership with Business in the Community, Caterpillar and Barclay’s Bank, Action Cancer shops were to hold a one-day event to raise money and awareness.
A team of 5 highly professional Year 14 Moving Image Arts students from Ulidia were invited to film and photograph preparations, the event and interview the Team in Action Cancer in Carrickfergus on 18th September 2014. The shop had chosen James Bond as their theme, with the tagline of “Live Another Day”.
Complete with a James Bond impersonator (Andrew Wilson), a photographer and animator (Michelle Tsang) and a film crew of Niall Marcus, Olivia Read and produced by Mrs Mercer, the final film was edited by Rory Gamble, we spent the day in an Action Cancer shop in Carrickfergus.
The students had a great day filming, developing skills in documentary film-making and action genre. The team gained invaluable experience working to tight deadlines, filming on location with a crew and supporting our local community.
We have been invited to the Europa Hotel for a Gala Dinner on 2nd October to show our talents on the big screen, as a reward for all the amazing efforts of a hard-working team. Watch this space for the final film, and the formal outfits at the gala!
