The hill walking season is upon us and the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme participants have been taking part in a team building and training day at Ulidia, that will prepare them for their time on the hills.
Our Gold team are going to see some of the scenic landscapes in the Antrim Hills and the rugged mountain tops of the Mournes, whilst our Silver teams will spend their time solely in the Antrim Hills.
Their morning in Ulidia consisted of completing an obstacle course as a team, pacing and timing, pitching and striking tents and group discussion. Before they then leave for their expedition both teams will have a further small number of joint training sessions on trangia use, first aid and kit packing.
All in all a very exciting time for our young hill walking enthusiasts who are now counting down the hours and minutes until they can get out there!
