Ulidia Celebrates Success at Annual Speech and Prize Day

Friday 23 October 2015 marked the official date for Ulidia Integrated College’s Annual Speech and Prize Day.  Staff and pupils joined the Prize Winners in the Hall to share in the success and achievements of pupils for the year 2014/2015.

This year we celebrated prize day with a difference as; Mr Thomas Adams, a past pupil and previous Head Prefect of the College was formally invited to join the Board of Governors in the official presentations.

Ulidia Integrated College offers a wide range of subjects to meet the needs of its pupils.  Awards and Trophies were presented for GCSEs, A Levels and Attendance as well as creative arts, music, sport and Duke of Edinburgh.  Pupils were also recognised for their outstanding contributions to the ethos of the school and their commitment to school life.

A special mention should go to the following pupils who have excelled academically through extra-curricular activities:

Ethan Hall was awarded the Conduct Cup for the student who best personifies the student constitution.  Ethan was identified by staff as a pupil who always shows respect, tries his best, has excellent attendance and always displays a warm and positive manner both in and out of school.  Lauren McDowell was presented the Jay Cullen Memorial Shield for the student who has shown outstanding contributions to mentoring younger students.  Lauren was selected by her Year 8 mentees as she is always ready to listen and displays a friendly, happy and helpful manner.

The ECO team were also highly commended as they have worked diligently to achieve Ambassador status for the College amongst other awards such as; SSE Airtricity Eco team of the year award, Translink Travel Challenge prize for using sustainable methods of travel to school and becoming a Fair Trade School Status.

This year the Principal wanted to acknowledge the achievements of two pupils for their talents in areas outside of school life.  Enya Maguire, for her participation in the Under 16 European Championships in Macedonia.  Her team were the highest placed IRELAND team ever recorded. Also, congratulations to Chloe McArthur who was awarded 3 titles in Archery; NI field Archery Association Champion, Indoor Archery Champion and Hunter/Field Champion 2015.  At Ulidia we would like to encourage pupils to share their success in activities in and out of school with staff so that we can celebrate these achievements.

Finally, the Principal and staff of Ulidia Integrated College would like to thank our Head Prefect of 2014-2015, Thomas Adams for his dedication and commitment to school life.
