29 Feb STEM Bus Returns to Ulidia
Our A Level scientists benefitted from a welcome return of the ever popular STEM bus. Packed full of high tech gadgetry, the STEM team of experts led the pupils through a 2 hour detailed session on Advanced Microscopy. This included the operation and related calculations of the hemocytometer in analysing populations of yeast cells. This is especially useful for related coursework.
There was also an opportunity to see a demonstration of an Electron Microscope where £100,000 worth of kit allowed the pupils to see the pollen grains under the wing of a fly as well as many other fascinating images of insects up close and personal!!
