Ulidia’s Author of the Week

In Ulidia we have lots of talented writers so we’ve decided to share some work with you.

We’ll start off with a creative writing piece written by Daisy, who is a year 11 student. The task was to write in the style of Roald Dahl, and Daisy chose to write about a teacher.

Enjoy !

A memorable Teacher, by Daisy

Do you ever see someone so vile and disgusting that it sends an ice cold shiver down your spine?

For me that person is Mrs Smiley (Funny that because no one has ever saw her smile, not that you would want to!). Mrs Smiley was a tall woman with grey wiry hair; her face was wrinkled and droopy like someone has sucked the life out of her.

Teacher

Her nose was big and pointed more to the left of her face; she had thin purple lips, the top one was always turned up like she smelt something disgusting. Her finger nails were long, curly and yellow; under her nails there were chunks of gooey earwax and if you think that’s bad wait ‘til I tell you about her teeth. Her teeth were black and sharp like daggers and sometimes you would see small creatures weave between them.

If you didn’t write with a ruler under your work she would stand you at the top desk and make you put your hands on the table. She would then call out difficult spellings and if you got it wrong (which everyone did as they were impossible spellings that only old fashioned English teachers like her would know), she would turn the ruler sideways and hack into your knuckles until they were cut and bleeding.

If you sat at the front of the class you were the unluckiest person in the class. Mrs Smiley would stand in front of you spitting her leftover tuna sandwiches into your hair as she fiercely taught. The back of the class wasn’t pleasant either, you would have to breathe into your jumper as the smell of rotting children’s dreams and dead rodents lingered.

Everyone trembled in fear as she walked down the school halls trying not to make eye contact with the raging bull. She may have been a bony thin woman but she even made the captain of the senior boys rugby team cry when she approached him! Not joking!

To this day no matter where I am or who I am with if I see that dragon I bolt in the opposite direction before she brings her reign of terror into my life again.
