On a wet and dull Monday morning, the eco team undertook a beach survey with the Ulster Wildlife Trust and University of Ulster. This unique project is an opportunity to take part in ‘real’ science and to help monitor the impact of rising sea temperatures on our rocky shore species.
During the survey, students were taught how to use a quadrat properly and how to use monitoring forms. The team worked using random sampling methodologies to survey the shore line.
During the survey learners found a wide range of marine flora and fauna, but the group agreed that they found the crabs to be the most interesting things that they found.
