The Eco Team at Ulidia Integrated College were delighted to be involved in the launch of the annual Translink Travel Challenge along with Acorn Integrated Primary.
Ulidia is working closely with Acorn this year to mentor pupils towards the coveted green flag award. Sixth form pupils from Ulidia will be visiting classes in Acorn Primary throughout this year to provide support, help them develop their eco code and work with pupils on projects to improve the sustainability of school grounds.
During the launch of the Translink Travel Challenge, pupils from Ulidia and Acorn integrated schools took part in a joint photo shoot to promote the travel challenge, these photos will be used throughout the province. The Translink Travel Challenge aims to highlight the positive health benefits of active travel modes. Independent research shows that people who use sustainable transport for the journey to and from work have a significantly lower BMI and are happier than those who use private transport.
