On Saturday 11th February, pupils from years 12 and 13 who are participating in the Duke of Edinburgh award programme took part in an on-site training day.
During the event students were given the opportunity to train in Trangia operation, edofe operation, teambuilding skills, pacing skills, walking safety, as well as learning how to put up a tent and how to pack it away correctly. The highlight of the day was the obstacle course.
Pupils also had the opportunity to discuss their volunteering and skills sections with staff to gain advice and guidance. Staff commented at the end of the day how enthusiastic and willing to learn the pupils were – well done to all who took part!
