On Thursday 11th May, pupils from Ulidia Integrated College’s Eco Team undertook a litter picking activity at Carrickfergus Castle car park. The activity was supported by ISL recycling who work closely with Ulidia Integrated College to maintain our ‘zero waste’ status.
ISL recycling provided litter pickers and high visibility vests for the activity, as well as professional disposal of the gathered waste.
The group were able to collect a full bag of mixed paper and dry recyclable waste. The team were delighted to find so little waste and felt that the reduction of litter in the area was a good indicator that our local area is being looked after well. However the team did find a lot of polystyrene waste which would be harmful if consumed by local wildlife believing it to be food.
