Earlier this year students in Year 8 were challenged to design a flag for Antarctica. In class they learnt about the Artic Treaty and why the Artic wilderness is internationally protected. The work of two students was then sent to Antarctica as our schoolโ€™s winning flag.

To mark International Antarctica Day the Geography Department is proud to share a photo of this yearโ€™s flag after its journey to Antarctica.

Our flag was taken to Antarctica by Rachel. Rachel is a postmaster at the famous Port Lockroy ‘Penguin Post Office’. Port Lockroy has recently opened for the season, and tourists visit there to send postcards around the world. Port Lockroy is an important international conservation site.
