We were delighted to welcome back our past pupil, Lauren Swann, to speak with our current Sixth Form students about her journey into the world of healthcare.
Laurenโs path is a fantastic example of how hard work and the right subject choices can lead to a dream career. After studying Double Health & Social Care and History at Ulidia Integrated College, Lauren moved to England to study at the University of Liverpool. After three years of intensive study and placements, Lauren is now a Band 5 Acute Occupational Therapist. Working in an acute hospital setting, she plays a vital role in helping patients regain their independence during the most critical stages of their recovery.
Lauren shared a wealth of advice with our students, including:

๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐๐ : Top tips on how to showcase passion and empathy when interviewing for competitive healthcare courses.
๐ ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ : Practical advice on transitioning from Northern Ireland to Liverpoolโfinding her feet, making friends, and balancing studies.
๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ช๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ : What a typical day looks like as a Band 5 OT and the rewards of working in a fast-paced hospital environment.
We want to say a massive thank you to Lauren for taking the time to give back to our school community. It was inspiring for our students to hear as they begin to submit their own university applications.
“Itโs wonderful to see our alumni thriving and willing to mentor the next generation of Ulidians!”
