04 Oct Celebrating 17 Years of Mentoring at Ulidia Integrated College
Today we are proud to announce our new Year 13 mentors. We are now beginning our 17th year and we are delighted to be taking part in training with the Youth Service from the Education Authority beginning this week. All our mentors this year will receive an additional OCN Level 1 qualification in Peer Mentoring for Young People.
Our mentors were initially trained by Childline and our team has grown so much over the years. Mentoring is part of our pastoral programme and our new Year 8 students have their mentors with them until Year 9. The after school club SPLAT, which was started in 2006 by two of our mentors, is a great place for the new students to make friends and enjoy connecting with their mentors. This takes place on a Tuesday Week 1 and it is always a lot of fun. The mentors have organised many activities over the years and we have no doubt this year our new team will do the same. Well done everyone.
