Weโre delighted to share some exciting news with our parents, guardians, and the wider Ulidia Integrated College community.
Last week, the Geographical Association Annual Conference took place in Sheffield, bringing together educators and geographers from around the world. We are incredibly proud that Ulidia Integrated College was highlighted in the keynote Presidential Lecture delivered by Catherine Owen, President of the Geographical Association.
Following her visit to our school in February, Catherine was so inspired that she chose to showcase Ulidia as an example of a school that is โreally making a differenceโ to the lives of young people and the local community.
What Makes Us Special: The Heart of Integrated Education
During her lecture, Catherine explained the ethos of Integrated Education to an international audience. At Ulidia, Catholic and Protestant students learn side by side, alongside those of other faiths or none. Itโs not just about sharing a classroomโitโs about building a community where every young person feels valued, respected, and heard.
The Voice of Our Students
Catherine shared that the most powerful evidence of our impact comes from our students. She highlighted a quote from a Year 13 student:
โI took my ashes the other day, the respect from other students in relation to that was brilliant. I felt such a sense of belonging.โ
This moment reflects the culture of respect and belonging we strive to create every day.
Catherine concluded by saying it was โabsolutely wonderful to see what was going on in Ulidia Integrated College,โ praising the dedication of our staff and students.
A Huge Thank You!
We extend our sincere thanks to Catherine Owen for her visit and for championing our school on a global stage. Most importantly, thank you to our students and families for making Ulidia the inclusive and inspiring community it is.
