Eco Team Mark Centenary Of World War 1

Eco Team Mark Centenary Of World War 1

On Friday 5th December the eco team marked the centenary of World War 1 by planting sapling trees and having a Christmas 1914 party.

The sapling trees were provided by the woodland trust to mark the centenary of WW1. The team planted them in our ‘nursery’, where there is plenty of shelter from the elements. In about two years time when they are strong enough to handle the Carrickfergus climate the trees will be transplanted around the school grounds.

After giving the saplings a good water to help them on their way, it was then back to the geography department for a Christmas 1914 themed party. Here the team enjoyed sandwiches, pancakes, buns and old fashioned sweets!

All members of the team were then given a packet of centenary poppy seeds to take home and plant.
